What it is

A festival that celebrates the island's nature — from the inside.

Echoo was born in 2024, as part of the Festival da Natureza. Echoo from echoing a message of wellbeing with nature; echoo from ecosystem, from ecological.

Since then it has been two days a year at Chão das Feiteiras, with a varied programme to be announced soon: concerts, relaxed conversations about nature and sustainability, presentations of projects in these fields and more; activities for all ages, a silent party, meditation at sunrise, species watching and much more. This is not a retreat. It is simply an event where you are at ease with Nature, in a playful and sociable way, with awareness of and respect for the environment.

Sustainability

Dry toilets and waste management

We want the festival to leave a mark on people, not on the place that hosts us. Our commitment is simple: to leave the grounds cleaner than we found them.

Dry toilets

On site there will be 2 men's urinals, 2 women's urinals and 2 dry-toilet cabins: an ecological solution that cuts water use significantly and avoids the wastewater that conventional toilets produce.

Waste collection and sorting

Throughout the festival there will be waste collection points and a team dedicated to collecting and sorting it, making sure the different materials go where they should and, whenever possible, are recycled or recovered.

At the end we do a careful sweep of the whole site. Because for us sustainability is not only about reducing impact — it is about caring for the place that welcomes us and trying to leave it better than we found it.

Where

Chão das Feiteiras

A high plateau in the heart of the island, ringed by heathland and levada paths. It is not in central Funchal — and that is exactly what makes the festival what it is.

Accessibility. The site is uneven natural terrain and is not accessible to people with reduced mobility. We are happy to help you plan a visit — write to us before you travel.

Shared transport. Buses run from Funchal (Praça CR7), €2.50 per trip, with advance booking — Book the bus. Coming by bus or shared ride is how we keep cars off the mountain.

Bring the essentials. You will be at altitude: pack a warm layer, walking shoes and water. Reusable cups are handed out on arrival.
